FOR: Call up to (former) Ramsey WW2 Ack-Ack camp training site.
When: Friday 12th July (7PM) - 14th July (3pm).
Cost: £20 (way cheaper than a babysitter)*
We hope you are able to confirm your attendance @the 2nd annual (we hope to make this a tradition) 1940's Ramsey cub campsite, known as "RAM-CAM" if you attended last year & got the diamond camp patch for your camp blanket or camp poncho.
Scouts will also be on the site with us, due to their leader needing to gain his scouting camp licence.
The 2 nights will count towards Nights away badges (which go up according to total nights away over time) & maybe quite a few more! ..see below!
An insight to what we will typically do (weather permitting).
Friday evening: cubs assisted by leaders & parent helpers pitch tents...(yes that means YOU laddie).
Late friday night / early Saturday morning (inevitably): Noisy excited cubs refuse to go to sleep until told off by sleep deprived & generally despairing leaders.
Saturday morning: Bleary eyed cubs moan about lack of sleep & fall asleep over breakfast.
Local hiking, ..Swimming, playing "long games" in the large grass field area, ..wildlife identification, ..general messing about,
Saturday afternoon: More food, more fun.
Saturday evening: Camp sing-songs, sketches & skits!
Saturday night: Blissful sleep (we hope)!
Sunday morning: "Quiet breakfast" followed by more outdoorsy stuff, ...tracking, scouting skills etc.
Sunday afternoon: Packing up our tents & tidying the area. & going home & dumping our kit on the living room floor then promptly falling asleep!
Hope to see you there! ...now taking bookings, cash, cheques etc.
Please print out our camping permission form , read, fill, sign & return to Dale (Baloo) or Judith (Akela).
Take a look at this page of suggested camping kit (from our own site) to get an idea of the sort of kit you might need to borrow or buy.
Anyone without pieces of kit please speak to Akela Judith, in case we have some spares!
Camps are great fun & potentially contribute towards a good number of badges some of which are listed (& linked below) ..take a look with your parents & carers & try to cover a few of the requirements, such as sensibly packing a rucksack (or bag) for camp.
Pack dismissed, ..Fall out!
*Just saying :)
