Trail mix as it's often known or GORP (stands for Good Old Peanuts & Raisins) are your typical ingredient mix of sweet & savoury that pack energy & sugars into little morsels to keep you going...
We'll list a few simple recipes for trail snacks, which also can be tasty in a lunchbox!

Take a look at these recipes & try mixing up your own for a snack at a football match, sponsored walk, after a swim, many activities, they keep well sealed in a ziplock or clipseal bag & my dad & I eat them out & about or on the mountain, along with our other favourite, squishy rice krispies bars, ...you can also make those yourselves too! The Basic...
1 cup salted peanuts or dry roasted peanuts
1 cup raisins
Mix in a Zip lock bag and eat on the trail.

Trail Peak Trail Mix
1 cup Cheerios cereal, rice, corn, wheat or mixed
1 cup M & M's
1 cup salted peanuts (or dried roasted peanuts)
1 cup raisins

Mixed GORP
1 cup mixed nuts (or dry roasted mixed nuts)
1 cup dried Fruit Bits
1 cup M&Ms;
1 cup roasted sunflower kernels
Mix in a large Zip lock bag and eat on the trail

GORP M & M's (heavy on the chocolate treats)
1 cup salted peanuts (or dry roasted peanuts)
1 cup raisins
1 cup M & M’s
Mix in a Zip lock bag and eat on the trail.

Golden Cashew GORP
1 part plain M & M’s
1 part golden raisins
1 part salted cashews
Mix well in a zipper-lock bag.

Gourmet GORP
1 part walnut halves
1 part dried cherries
1 part plain or peanut M & M’s
Mix well in a zipper-lock bag.

Scout GORP
1 Bag M & Ms
1 Bag M & Ms w/Peanut
1 Bag Reeses Pieces
1 Large can of Peanuts
1 Box of Cheerioes
1 Container of Raisins
1 Box of Mini frosted shreddies type cereal
1 Bag of Mini Marshmallows
Equipment: 1 big paper Bag
1 Box Ziploc sandwich bags
Place all of the ingredients into the paper bag. Shake the bag. Scoop portions into individual sandwich bags.

Common Additions:
• Dried fruit: raisins, dried apricots, date nuggets, banana chips, apple chips, dried papaya, dried cranberries, and dried cherries.
• Nuts and seeds: peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds.
• Chocolate and more: M&Ms, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, carob chips, dried coconut
• Salty stuff: Pretzels, sesame sticks, oriental rice crackers, salty "party mix" cereal.
• Cereals: Any breakfast cereal, granola.
These trail snacks being both salty & sweet help to replace lost energy, & salts, are tastey enough to munch on without stopping fuelling you up as you go, or after an exhausting activity, but the idea is that each handful has a good amount of fuel your body can immediately turn into energy without sitting in your stomach, easy to make yourself (or with a bit of help from an adult)
