Our Twitter account is @1stRamseyscouts ..please add it to your phones & computers
Providing instant info updates, no blocking up of your email account, just a 140 character text type message with a link to say new stuff on the website, is about as simple as it'll ever get, & will enable the leaders to save paper & print by reducing photo-copying & paperwork distribution.
For instance, you may see sign up sheets , camping kit requirement lists for week-ends away, last minute notifications etc all put up for your attention & subsequent inspection, to your phone via twitter.
You DON'T need to be a member of twitter to read our "twit-feed" but it does help if you sign up or add us.
More info on our links page!
(Keeping It Simple)
for those who don't know what twitter is, well, it's NOT facebook, you sign up locate the sort of person, company or group you would like to be kept informed about if they hold a twitter account) & press the "follow" button... (if you don't follow a person you simply don't get their information in your timeline, handy if you just want the relevant Beaver & cub pack updates, to make things easier the tweets will be either Beaver or Cub related & we apologise in advance as we cannot realistically separate the 2 at this point in time! ...but we believe it will be a valuable resource for all of us Leaders, parents & carers, AND the pack!
As the person/ group / company puts out updates it appears in a short message on your timeline, around the length of a single text, sometimes with a link to relevant items & going's on's!
If you have us on twitter we think you'll never again be dashing round the house looking for paperwork 10 minutes after the pack meeting has started!
Twitter is very handy for modern mobile phones (downloaded as an app once an account is created), or to have on your PC / tablet.
It's a bit like an old fashioned ticker tape, or the news bar on 24hr news channels.
It's free to download & use, simple to monitor, & is well supported by the parent company.
Please note, if you don't have a smart phone & are not on the internet, please let us know, we can endeavour to try and start a "buddy system" so info gets to you one way or another.
If we can cut down (or cut out) print-outs then we are saving on expensive photo-copying costs & the time of our volunteers.
