Towering over everything are the famous (& infamous). Cardington air balloon hangars (THEY-ARE-MASS-IVE) which stored the infamous R101 airship in the time of air-ships as transport in the early 20th century!
But I didn't know there is a great place to learn to bodyboard (boogie boarding) & surfing, INDOORS! ...it's called "FLOWRIDER" ..why not watch the video below & see what you think!?
A FlowRider sprays a sheet of water, about four inches deep, over a trampoline like ride surface. This water then disperses through small holes In the grating at the back of the ride where is rejoins the water tanks underneath the ride surface.
It then travels though the filter system to be cleaned before going though the pumps and back out of the nozzles onto the ride surface to be re-circulated once again.
Flowboarding is what we call surfing on the FlowRider. It combines all the best bits from surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding and skate boarding, wrapping them neatly up into one new and exciting sport. Our specially designed boards allow people of all experience levels to first try the very popular bodyboarding and then for those who are ready Flowboarding.
"The Twinwoods site is now one of the most unique venues in the whole of Europe combining the 9m wide FlowRider artifical wave, Bar & Grill and surf shop of Flow House, with the already amazing and world famous Bodyflight wind tunnel, heath club, Vertigo - simulated BASE jump and simulated driving experience of The Race Room."
Whilst we normally pop "cheap or free" places to visit on the site this is quite pricey but the sort of things cubs & scouts ((not forgetting grown-ups)) adore! ....& they do cheap group bookings / special offers so anything is possible!

Cubs & Beavers please note: you must be 107cm or taller to use the flowrider or other facilities if you wish to go & watch or get wet & try it out in a group or family lesson!
Who know's if we pestered Cambs district enough we MIGHT be able to make a cubs & beavers day of it! ..but there is nothing to stop you trying it out for yourself! ..who knows it might earn you a new badge too!
If you are using a sat-nav then you can enter the postcode MK44 1RF which will bring you to the bottom of the hill on Thurleigh road in the village of Milton Ernest. Head up the hill and you will find the entrance to Twinwood’s Business park on your right.
