Following a work party rummage in the undergrowth, ..digging around in the drains & tidying up the tiles (roof), a parent has pressure-washed our drains to see if it will solve our problem plumbing & divulge what our drainage is playing at!
A BIG THANK-YOU is in order to parent helpers giving up their time, this has helped locate, isolate & identify the cause of our rising damp.
We "thought" that we may have a small collapsed rain drain which may explain away the rising damp amongst other aspects we have found, been made aware of & are attempting to address, the result of which has now been fixed at a cost of several hundred pounds expense... the sink drainage had never been hooked up (left as a natural soakaway) which worked well until the hut was used by more people weekly as we are a community building incorporating both Sunday school & under 5's play sessions ...solving this has severely dented our yearly funds.
As a result we hope the building will dry out again once the warm weather arrives.
Apologies in the meantime for the muddy path, you can't make omlettes without cracking a few eggs!
Thank-you once again for giving up your free time in order to help out the scout group & save us an even heftier bill ..it is greatly appreciated !
